Some ideas!

After a long time without commits or site update, it may be possible that ThacidLCD restart in the next months.

First of all, let's say what happened since the last update.
ThacidLCD have slightly evolved. I modified it in order to use the library in the field of the robotic assoction of my school. We integrated a graphic LCD screen (T6963C) last year to our robot. The aim was to debug easily the robot. For that, I modified the code to be able to run on a dsPic30F.
The hardware abstraction layer have been modified to work with the C30 compiler and the dsPic library given by Microchip.
The whole have also been modified in order to use a memory pool for some objects that have to be allocated. Now the library don't assert any more that an underlaying system do this work.
This have been a sucessful operation for ThacidLCD that prouve it is capable to run on embedded target! The operation didn't needed to much modification thanks to the hardware abstraction layer.

Furthermore, some times ago I got the idea to make the library works with the Io language. But this language is still to young. The virtual machine API is not enough stable. Thus, this project will have to wait that Io release the 1.0 version of its API.
Recently I also imagine that it is possible to use Java by different ways. With the JNI, or with the serial and parallel communication library.

I also think to an easily possible use of a USB<->// chip. The aim should be to use it with Java. The whole thing allows to have a LCD screen supplied and working by the USB port. That is really useful when you don't have a parallel port nor a 5V source. That is exactly my case since I only have a laptop! (That also explain why the project didn't progessed a lot this last ... years).

Eventually, last change, I switched the web site from the Sourceforge hosting to my personal server.
